Caramilk Bars and Miserable Weather ~ Everyday Summary

I found this picture of a Caramilk bar. That's pretty much it.

~For pretty much that last month of my life I have not done anything exciting. Nothing thrilling or daring or blog worthy. I went shopping a few times. Got some summer clothes (post coming up for that soon). I went look in Sephora and I couldn't believe how expensive some of the products were.
~I am currently on Spring Break which should mean spring and flowers and sunshine but the weather has been absolutely miserable here. I was pumping myself up for this time to be all festive and in the spring spirit but it's just disgusting outside. It's foggy and raining/snowing all time and for where I live this is odd. There is NO SUN, just a ceiling of grey.
~A couple nights ago I went to a theatre production of King Lear with my dad. Really great  except for the fact the Shakespeare kills off all of his characters in every single one of his plays. SPOILER ALERT Everyone dies except for three characters. All in all, pretty good.
It was fun to spend a night out with my "pops".
~With all the rain and lack of sunshine I have been able to do a lot of "Spring" cleaning. Dusting, cleaning out, getting ride of stuff. This time of the year is a really good time to take inventory of everything you have and either a) throw it out b) donate it or c) keep it.
Less is more.
~Currently loving Hannah Maggs (Youtube Channel and Blog). I have been reading and watching Hannah Maggs for over a year and still love both her channel and blog!
Currently reading The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd, the first book in the trilogy. The book is terrify and creepy but also so good.

Going to go read and try to enjoy (read: deal with) the rainy weather. Really wish I had that Caramilk bar right now.

TOPSHOP at Hudson's Bay & Winter Blues

Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.-Vince Lombardi

I have not written here for a very long time. I have been really busy with just overall life stuff. And I shouldn't make excuses because, as part of a New Years "Goal", I wanted to at least write once a week so that everyone who possibly reads my blog, had something to actually read. So please accept my apology.

Ok. This post is actually about something that I am very excited about and spent all of my Saturday browsing through their online store. I watch and read a lot of British youtube channels and blogs, and EVERYONE is a huge fan of a store called TOPSHOP. I have never actually been but judging by what youtubers and bloggers wear or show in hauls, TOPSHOP is my style.

The exciting news is that... TOPSHOP has come to North America. Now I have heard a few beauty gurus in California particularly talk about going to TOPSHOP and wearing some items from there. I always just assumed that they had gone to the UK and shopped there. But it's here!!!

So on a boring Saturday afternoon, as I was perusing the inter-webs, I found that TOPSHOP was linked to a store called Hudson's Bay (in Canada) and it was on a website. So of course I spent the rest of my day, stuck looking at amazing clothes that were literally in a store a drive away from my house.

Here are a few of my online shopping finds. I plan on going into the store later this week so I can actually feel them in my hands. How Exciting!

Love these jeans.

This bright orange is my favourite colour
& reminded me of summer

A cute sunshine yellow to brighten
up your spirits for spring time.

A few cozy scarfs to bundle up
in what's left of winter.
 Floppy hat!

Am i the only one really excited about these clothes?

A lot of these bits  are a little over my price range and my not suite me but I just really like looking at clothes and picking out different pieces that look good together. Some of the items are a bit daring like the Wallflower print wedges and animal print shredded jeans but I think they might look really cool for summer and spring.

As it is a full on winter blizzard where I live, I am really missing and yearning for spring and summer weather. So excited for spring break and summer shopping time!

It Was Raining

The moment you step out side, and feel the rush of your new found freedom from the dungy dark theatre, there is an inexplicable rush of cool air and similar darkness outside.

But this darkness is the most comforting and welcoming darkness you've ever felt. You don't feel enclosed inside or wanting to run from the dark blanket surrounding you. You want to become engulfed completely in it.

You don't cover yourself from the dropping water. You don't rush down pavement towards your dungy car. You experience the rain fully.

It's not heavy. It doesn't weigh down your shoulder. It lifts you up and opens your eyes. The few lights that are around you, high above the parking lot, reflect on the glistening pavement below your feet.

The rain is warm and doesn't make you shiver. You feel warm and comforted like you are curled up in your bed on a wintery night.

You want to hold onto this moment forever. Wanting to walk the longest way home so you can continue the dream.

After seeing so much of a different world, through a screen. You never want to forget the moment, you didn't leave the rain.

~Wasn't sure what I was going to do for a post today, but really wanted to write something. I wrote in a "somewhat not really" poem form about what I experienced while leaving a movie theatre a couple of weeks ago.
~Currently loving Hold Back The River by James Bay (the link is to the music video which I haven't actually watched*) An AMAZING song and LOVE James Bay!!!
~Currently reading TheBeautyDepartment.com and the ever so gorgeous Essie Button.
~I am thinking of doing a Q & A, so if anyone wants to ask me a question, write it down in the comments and I'll read it!

Mental Health Awareness

As you can tell by the title, I am writing about something very important that affects at least 20% of Canadians in their lifetime.

Mental Health is something that is becoming more and more know... by EVERYONE. It is something that affects many people, even briefly, in their lifetime.

Mental Health affects all people of all ages. It is estimated that 10-20% of youth in Canada will experience mild to severe mental illness of disorder.

Today, about 5% of young men and 12% of young females will experience major depression.

School seems to only increase the pressure and anxiety, especially now when there are final exams and final projects that are a high percentage of your overall mark.

The reason that I wanted to write this post specifically is because of someone, who goes to a school in my city, has a campaign to raise awareness and money for mental health. His name is Brett Rotary and he is an incredibly amazing person to come out so publicly with this.

If you have a twitter account, make sure to tweet with the hashtag CHHSLetsTalk and check out bell's LetsTalk day on January 28th.

Bell's commercials supporting this issue are really powerful and amazing! Bell's LetsTalk campaign has people like Clara Hughes, Micheal Landsberg, Mary Walsh and Howie Mandel are all part of this amazing project.

Back in May, I was apple, with a local YMCA and my school, to go and see Clara Hughes (for those of you who don't know Clara Hughes is a Canadian Olympic athlete) as she biked across Canada, talk about mental health.

At that time I was going through something big. Something so big I didn't really know what it was and still don't.

Everyone is becoming more aware of mental health and that it does exist in the world. I am sure that if you go to school tomorrow and you look around your class room, you will see at least one person who suffers with a mental illness.

You may not know who they are, they might even be your friend.

Go check out Brett's twitter here. And click the links above to go see Bells LetsTalk website where you can see clips and commercials all about mental health awareness.

This is becoming more open to the world today. It is not something people should hide or be afraid of. It is an illness. People can't control wether or not they have this.

It happens without them even knowing. Some people may not realize for a very long time that they have anything from anxiety to panic attacks and on.

Let me know down below in the comments what you think or if you have any tips for people going through this.

Everyday Summary - Saturday

I realized that I haven't done a post like this for a little while, so I decided to do one today.

~Yesterday seemed like the best Friday ever! I did have a math quiz and had to submit a HUGE project for Social Studies... but other than that, it was a pretty good day.
In the after noon, I had my option class (which is wood shop *not my first choice*) and we just got to paint wooden tool boxes (that we had to construct) then we had to full out a killer workbook about how to draw blue prints. That was painful.
~On another more cheery note I have been absolutely loving night time. I don't know what it is, but something about turning on my fairy lights, crawling into a cozy bed and watching Netflix for hours, is just so relaxing. I literally watched two movies last night. That explains why I was up until 1 am and woke up at 10 am thinking it was 7:30 and time for school. haha.
~Right now I'm listening to Taylor Swift's 1989 album which I actually LOVE. At first I really thought that it was completely different and terrible compared to her usual country music (for those of you who don't know, I LOVE with a passion, country music) but I actually have gotten used to it. My current favourite songs are Wildest Dreams, New Romantics, Bad Blood and I Wish You Would (which I am currently listening to)
~Really loving curly hair right now.
~Currently reading Makeup and Beauty Blog and Essie Button

Your Precious Time

This is not the most cheerful Saturday post that I would want to be doing but I decided it needed to be said.

Right now I am sat in my room, curled up under my duvet cover with my faery lights on and I just got this feeling. That winter break is ending and I have to go back and face reality as well as SCHOOL.

I have to face the reality of all the homework and six hour days trapped in a building with more than half of the people I either don't talk to or don't like.

I just want to keep myself here, in my safe place.

I don't want to have to face the reality of leaving my home tomorrow and going out into the world where I have to actually do things I don't even care about. I have to put my heart into something that I don't even want to try to do.

For me, that's all school is. Having to put your heart and soul (and precious time of your ever so short life) into things you don't even care about.

When you've grown up and have a job, possibly a family, and are doing what you're passionate about, are you really going to remember that stupid chemistry lab you had to do on your last day of winter break. Probably not. (I am referring to myself here when i say I'm working on a lab on the last day of MY break)

I am really glad that I get to learn and grow and explore the world, but I'm already motivated to do that, on my own. Without school.

This evening my mom and sister were talking over diner, about how school was so different when my mom and dad were young since my sister and I were both dreading going back to school.

Everything was pretty different before our lives, it seems.

So I guess this whole post was about how messed up and how absolutely stupid I think school is. I keep thinking to myself "I only have four more years of this. Then I can do what ever I want."

I do plan on going to uni and having a career or job later on. The problem with me thinking that I only have four more years of school is that I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to do with my life after the fact.

This week I want you to comment down below (if you've made it this far) what you're safe place or happy place is and if you have any clue as to what you're going to do with your life.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who doesn't know what they want to do.

New Year… New You?

Everyone plans for the new year to do so many things and accomplish so many things. Frankly, I just want 2015 to be better than my one part of 2014. 2014 was crazy in itself! All around. It had ups and downs and some really terrible times. But also some really really good times.

I've decided this year that I'm not going to make a New Years resolution. New Years resolution are there saying "Break Me!". I'm going to make a goal. A goal for everyone and to everyone who is reading this right now.

This year, in 2015, I plan to blog more than I have. I want to share my thoughts and experiences to any one who wants to read them.

If every girl was the same as me, thinks the same as me, is the same as everyone else, that would be great. A perfect world where no one feels pressure to need to look and be perfect ALL the time.

I want this place on my laptop, to be that world. Or at least as close to that world as i can get.

I want to "be real" here. So until that time where we are all ourselves and can just live, I'm gonna keep it "real" here and keep it "unreal" in real life.
